What is true forgiveness? Joseph teaches us in chapter 45 of Genesis what genuine forgiveness looks like. In an emotional interaction, Joseph reveals himself to his brothers and extends forgiveness that will ultimately restore his relationship with his family. Joseph is able to see the hand of God in every area of his life which becomes the key to being able to forgive like he did.

Jacob and his family in Canaan ran out of grain in the long famine and had to do what he did not want to do: send the beloved son Benjamin with the brothers back to Egypt. Joseph received them warmly and began to rebuild relationship with them.

Jacob learns of what happened with his sons in Egypt and the demand that they return there with his beloved son Benjamin. In response, Jacob despairs that everything is against him and felt there was little hope for his life.
