We will see the importance of remaining under sound biblical teaching. Again biblical foundational truths that show we serve an unchanging God and we need to guard ourselves against false teaching and false teachers who are not teaching the word which always points to Jesus, but rather their own words that gather people to themselves.

In this study we will focus on nourishing one another as well as an exhortation to remain true to the foundations of our biblical truth.

In our last study we took a pause in progressing into Hebrews 12, taking time to focus on self- examination and training for endurance regarding our faith walk.

R: Require

A: Arm

I: Involve

N: Nourish

Primarily focusing on the T for testing ourselves to actually know what we profess to believe. We touched on the R which causes us to set a higher standard or raising the bar to really dive into the word, which requires discipline and resolve to meditate upon God’s word and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and discernment. Through this process, we learn to become doers of the word not hearers only as James tells us. These first two steps in training are foundational for us to move to the next step which is A for arming ourselves. The church today does little to arm themselves for spiritual battle. We go to church, hear the preacher give a message but for the most part, that is the only spiritual food we get until the next week. Couple that with how so many are not preaching the full counsel of God’s word, it’s easy to find ourselves oblivious to the fact that we are in a spiritual war.

We will continue our study in Joshua chapter 11

In this study we will be looking reviewing verses 1-2 at what it means to discipline ourselves to train.

In this study, we see the writer transitioning from encouragement through examples in biblical history, to personal application and personal discipline.

We will see how Israel not only honored the vow to the Gibeonites, but would even go to battle to protect them. We will also look at the miraculous event when the sun stood still while Joshua was in battle with the five kings that came down against Gibeon.

In this study we will finish this chapter in Hebrews. Again we will touch on many more listed in the hall of faith, but in particular we will look closer at the ones whose names aren’t mentioned, but suffered for their faith.

We will continue to see how many walked out their faith not only in the good times, but also in difficult times. Times when things didn’t make sense, when things looked impossible.
