In this and the next study is the blessing of Understanding the nature of sin and receiving the forgiveness of sin. In these 2 offerings our root problem is pictured: It is not that we sin, but that we are sinners by nature. There is no one who is not a sinner and there is no one who does not sin.

The Peace Offering signified a life of communion with God. The 1647 Westminster Catechism's 1st question is "What is the chief end of man?" The answer: "Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever." The Peace Offering was not an offering to make peace with God, but an offering to enjoy peace with God.

The worshipper came believing God according to His Word, His promises and His judgments. That by faith in God's priestly ministry and sacrifice, His mercy, grace and love would abound towards them.
