God didn’t want David to build Him a house, He wanted to build David a house that would reign forever!

We learn how we function in the House of God. God calls us to greatness from Joshua to our time He calls all of us to greatness.

It starts by being converted.

It follows with commitment to service.

David as king of Judah & Israel wanted God to be focal point of nation in Jerusalem. He brought the Ark of God to Jerusalem to make God the center of life. For us to put God first we should

1) Focus on Personal Growth

2) Establish Relationships

3) Develop Teaching

4) Develop Opportunities to Serve. However,

David shows how to wreck a marriage:

1) (David) allowed culture, not scripture, to define the marriage

2) (They) made compromises in their relationship with God

3) (Michal) had unrealistic expectations.

Jesus Speaks about how to deal with a believer who is doing wrong. Peter asks how many times one is to forgive.

David is a model for leadership.

David teaches us 1) importance of abiding, 2) no victory without a battle

David consulted God before each of his decisive battles and God delivered his enemies into his hands.

Jesus speaks to us this week in three examples.

First as the person who would follow Him wherever.

Second to follow Him whenever.

Third to follow Him forever.

There is no cost to being saved (we are saved through Jesus’ freely dying on the cross), but these are examples of the cost of discipleship.

After Saul’s death, David assumed reign over Judah and ultimately all Israel. He refused to take it by force, but wanted all to want him as king, so he waited seven and a half years for it. The promises of God are sometimes time sensitive. We also must wait upon the Lord... for direction ... for peace ... for an open door.

Jesus sets the scene of a vineyard to tell a story of the TRUE vine (Jesus), the farmer (God the Father), and the branches (us). Are you connected to the vine? Only through the vine do we attain life everlasting, eternal life, through Jesus! If we are connected, we are already pruned (clean) because of the word Jesus has spoken!

Backslidden people have various reasons for not being in a relationship with the Lord. Some practical lessons are found in this teaching. What three things does one do to keep a relationship with the Lord?

Prodigal means wasteful, extravagant lifestyle. Jesus speaks to all those who are living a life that leads away from Him so as to have them come into His redemption.
