After Solomon dies he turns the kingdom over to his son Reheboam. Reheboam listened to foolish council. This caused an adversary Jereboam to rise up and divide the kingdom, a kind of civil war takes place that will affect Israel until captivity.

King David dies and his son Solomon takes the throne. Solomon has an intriguing rise to the throne and reign as king. We will cover his life as we look at 1 Kings and in the 3 books accredited to his name, Song of Solomon, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes.

We might not agree with the methods but we understand the message. Equality. Since creation, man has worked at eqaulity but we are flawed and we are not good at it. But God is. That is why Jesus came and equality and family is something Jesus produced. A great place to see this is in a little letter that Paul wrote from prison to his friend named Philemon.

This Sunday we finish the book of 2 Samuel. One more mistake from David, one more lesson, one more picture of the Gospel. Join us as we see David make the journey from his own guilt to Gods grace and a life of gratitude.

2 Samuel 23 tells us of Davids "Mighty Men". In these verses we learn their names and some of their exploits. These guys were instrumental in putting King David on the throne and keeping him there. You and I fight for and with the Son of David, King Jesus. Join us tomorrow as we are encouraged by these warriors to be Mighty men and Mighty women for our King Jesus!
