We are all called by God to do great things. We are called to love Him and show His love to the world.
True humility is the foundation upon which sobriety should be built. We should seek holiness but ensure it is sought with humility. Humility is only part of the equation. In this lesson, we look at how we marry compassion with humility. What is compassion? How do we present truth with compassion?
Humility is a practice! We must be sober. Being sober requires being disciplined and having self control. If we are carnal, we are immature. Be wise! Our own actions can influence one another of being saved. Be sober!
Easter is not the conclusion. Jesus is still with us in our pain, confusion, and doubt.
In today's environment, nothing is considered right or wrong. Moral views have been abandoned because they were inconvenient and perceived as antiquated. Why should I care if something is right or wrong? There are absolute truths that cannot be disproved but there is an importance in presenting the truth in love and humility. What happens when we find that our preconceived notions about Scripture was wrong? It is important to maintain a spirit of humility and allow God to shape our understanding of truth.
On the cross, Jesus reconciled himself and man, making it possible for man to be forgiven and cleansed of all sin. What could be more beautiful than opening the way to paradise? The cross was that way.
Our worship creates transparency before God and others. Worship is the doorway to discipleship. It is our first response to the gift of God's presence in our lives. We are made to worship Him.
The adversary is the accuser of the brethren and a slanderer. It is the accusation of the enemy that causes us to question who we are in God and is the beginning of shame. It is that voice that causes us to doubt our worth and value. If we are guilty of sin, that guilt brings us to repentance. Shame is a paralyzing force and brings separation from God. The enemy desires us to be bound by shame even though God has already forgiven us our sins. When we give into the voice of shame, we open ourselves to the attack of the enemy. We must free ourselves from the intoxicating lies of the accuser. We must put to death the former man to be made new in Christ through the renewing of our minds. Like Lazarus, we must be loosed from the grave clothes and put aside the shame.
