In scripture, Mary was spending time at the feet of Jesus and Martha was preparing food for everyone. Just like with Martha, we can become so distracted in our daily routine that we lose focus on what really matters. There is always time to spend time at the feet of Jesus.

We may not choose what happens to us but we do choose how we respond. Trials are not always behind us and when they are in front of us, it is hard to stay grateful. It is in those times that we need to remember that gratefulness is a choice that can be made in the difficult times.

To every veteran and family, we honor you today, and we are so thankful for the sacrifice you have given, so that we can enjoy the freedom we have today. But, we must also acknowledge and thank the only veteran that has given us life eternal. The veteran that loved us so much to defeat life itself and gave us a freedom that is greater than any freedom we could ever experience here on this earth.
