Paul’s relationship to the local church in Philippians is one that brings joy by being together, having partnership (koinonia), and having assurance of God’s work in their lives; which produces joy in their afflictions. In this message, we learn how the local body of believers is the means by which God has chosen to give us joy and how our participation within it fulfills our deepest longing to belong.

When we think about identity, we think of many different categories such as culture, ethnicity, marital status and etc. But, none of those is the identity Paul talks about in the opening verses of Philippians – because none of those leads to joy. Today, as we begin our new series in Philippians, we learn of our true identity and how this brings us joy.
