In a hopeless world, the only trustworthy place to put your hope in is Jesus Christ.

After His resurrection, Jesus met two of His followers who were walking away from Jerusalem to Emmaus.

Their hope was dead because they thought their Savior was dead.

When their eyes were opened, they realized that Jesus was very much alive and their hope was renewed.

As they encountered Him, their hearts were rekindled with a burning, spiritual passion.

Jesus took the good news of the Kingdom of God straight to the people.

Jesus called Simon-Peter, Andrew, James & John to follow Him.

It was a big deal for simple fishermen to be invited by a rabbi to follow him.

While others may have thought these men couldn’t make the cut, Jesus did.

And Jesus invites ALL of us to follow Him

After Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness, Satan came and tempted Jesus in 3 areas:

1. His Source of Provision

2. His Source of Identity

3. His Source of Authority

The same Spirit that led Jesus to be baptized, now led Jesus to the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

If the Spirit leads you TO the wilderness, He’ll lead you THROUGH the wilderness.

John the Baptist called out the religious elite for their evil hypocrisy.

Part of John’s ministry was to baptize Jesus.

Jesus allowed Himself to be baptized

John the Baptist was an Elijah type of prophet who had prophesied about centuries earlier.

His purpose was to make way for the long awaited Messiah.

He was unconventional, raw, bold and his message was all about repentance!

Satan has been trying to take out Jesus (and the Church) since the beginning.

Joseph allowed his life to be interrupted for the sake of his family.

Matthew frames Jesus as a new and better Moses who came to liberate us from slavery to sin.

1.  His presences causes exceeding joy.

2.  His presence compels us to give.
