Isreal was following an early form of Prosperity Gospel and it wasn't working, so they resorted to defamation and slander against God.

God promised to make Israel a delightsome land, but there were requirements involved. Can we ask for the same blessings on a spiritual level- We too must meet the criteria.

God is unchangeable therefore we are not consumed.
