Today we look at the struggle the Israelites faced with the nations that surrounded them during days of Jephthah. Even today, Israel faces similar issues with it’s neighbors over the promised land. Land in the Middle East and really everywhere has always been in dispute since the beginning of time and it is amazingly no different today. If you were to read the headlines in Jephthah’s day it would be, “Ammonites demand Israel give up land for peace”. The sad thing historically is that even when land has been given up for peace, peace has never come because there is always a desire for more land. And the only way these things have been settled historically is with war. And that is exactly what we will see today land disputes in Israel leading to war.
