April 25th is ANZAC Day. This year it fell on a Saturday which should have been our round 3 Premier League home game against Footscray Hockey Club. The club were working on some special activities to commemorate our servicemen and women; but of-course that wasn't able to happen this season due to COVID19 restrictions.

Rich is a proud serviceman who served on 3 overseas deployments to areas including Afghanistan. Rich was an intimidating goalkeeper with many premierships in the seconds and a State League 1 title in 2000. He also happens to have 2 Karate World Cup titles and is the 6 dan black belt founder and Chief Instructor of Blackburn Karate Club here in Melbourne.

Wansey and Jay speak about Jay's early career beginning at Reservoir through to his arrival at Camberwell and his recollections of the characters there, bonding training at Albert Park during installation of the club's first synthetic pitch and legendary head coach Don Argus.

Hear Jay describe his Olympic journey through Seoul, Barcelona, Atlanta and Sydney; and the boys exploring the additional challenges of tournament play extending through the entire games period.

Jay speaks about his move into coaching in the southern Dutch city of Eindhoven, Belgium and India and his local work with Hawthorn Hockey Club's Womens Premier League and the High Performance Victorian Institute of Sport program.

During each episode we will cover current topical news and updates from the club and hockey world; and present segments with figures in our club and wider community.

Our objective is to present a casual conversational format with each guest, roaming over topics hockey related and not as the discussion flows.

In episode 1 we feature a conversation with club president Simon Winter covering a wide range of topics including his reflections following his first year in the the role, dealing with the COVID-19 crisis and positive developments the club has implemented such as presenting Mental Health first Aid training to members.

We're looking to recruit members for our hosting team. We have the technical side covered and will supply a microphone headset. All you'll need is a computer, quiet place to record and reasonable internet.

Each segment you'd record with a guest involves agreeing some common talking points beforehand, setting up a time and simply holding a conversation covering the points and anywhere the discussion leads.
