What can facilitation teach us about coaching executives?
In our first episode, Surinder and Ben talk with an amazing facilitator Johnnie Moore about where group practice meets evidence-based coaching. Johnny draws on Gestalt, the person-centred approach, encounter groups and improv, and explains why small, “simple” interventions can unlock complex human behaviour. He also examines how interventions like improv can be used in a corporate setting to understand the real person behind the role. We also discover how moment by moment learning shapes our future strategy.
We also cover Richard Farson’s Management of the Absurd, Csikszentmihalyi’s work on flow, and why listening, presence and holding silence matter as much in the boardroom as in the coaching room.
Johnnie Moore is a team coach and facilitator. He's worked around the world with universities, corporates and third sector organisations. He's the founder of Creative Faciliation, and the author ot the book, Unhurried He's been a tutor at the Oxford Business School and is on the visiting faculty of Homerton College's Changemakers leadership program. He believes the human relationship skills will be all the more important in a age of accelerating technology.
