Meet Tommy Priest. We have all seen him, talked to him, and better have had a cup of his coffee. But, do you know him? Why does he wears a hat all the time. Why doesn't he brag more about the fact that he graduated for 3 time National Champion, Appalachian State (that was for me). My favorite... Why he loves Winston-Salem, NC so much. He loves people and helping others. He loves protecting local treasures like the children's home land for all to enjoy. He is a husband, a father to 2 amazing daughters...and a really cool dude.
Please listen and enjoy.

Owens Daniels shared his love of Winston Salem outside Krankies (www.krankiescoffee.com) prior to a new photography exhibit. We talked about Covid, the protests, where he finds inspiration, his favorite things to photograph and ....walking around downtown with a toilet on rollers. I learned what true activism is by being a humanist. He cares, he loves and he takes awesome pictures. His day gave him a piece of advice that he follows to this day. "Everybody has a story to tell" son tell what you see.
Please listen and enjoy.

It's hot out, so it's time to talk fire safety. We are on location with William "Trey" Mayo, Fire Chief of Winston-Salem. John and Trey chat about the growing popularity of sprinkler systems in the home, dangers of petroleum-based furnishings, and how quickly you can expect a fire truck to be at your home after you place a call.
We are back from summer break and who do we have as our first guest? Mary Haglund, of course! Owner of the former Mary's Gourmet Diner (Mary's, Of Course!). Mary's was one of Winston-Salem's most beloved restaurants for a great breakfast. So, what's Mary up to now? Tune in to the chat!

This week's guest is Dr. Craig Richardson, a professor of economics at Winston Salem State, and also the founder of the center for the study of economic mobility.
John and Dr. Richardson talked about how COVID-19 is affecting Winston-Salem and the country as a whole. We also discussed the B.I.G. idea (business wanting profits, individuals wanting upward mobility, and the government wanting a further tax basis) and how we can manipulate that to help our county progress out of the current state of economic immobility.
