Members Reviews:
and I for one am very glad that she took the time to put that experience ...
A much-needed guide to advocating for a clean environment, with emphasis on nuclear energy. Meridith Angwin's experience on this topic is significant, and I for one am very glad that she took the time to put that experience into a book, to be used as a tool to help the pro-nuclear movement be more effective.
A straightforward message told simply.
Trained as a chemist, Mrs. Angwin's science background belies the fact that she relates well to others and can come across as a typical small town gal. From reading her blog and watching a couple videos, she could easily be mistaken for a simple housewife & grandmother - until a STEM subject comes up. Then she'll engage at that level, patiently listening before asking questions which make any expert pause to formulate a succinct & accurate answer. When Meredith describes how good (she hopes) this book is and what a reader should get out of it, she's spot on - not just waxing poetically. This is a recipe for becoming a modern, ecological warrior for a healthier planet.
Helpful guide in the fight to protect our largest source of clean energy.
Meredith Angwin has done a service to pro-nuclear environmentalists with her book. Actually, "book" might be more of a misnomer, it's more of an user's manual for all the power you didn't realize you had as an individual to affect policy change.
Drawing from her experience in the fight to save Vermont Yankee, Angwin inventories several tactics that proved useful in her campaign, as well as reflects on weak spots that should be corrected in the future. The "Brownie Deficit" was one, shorthand for the historical lack of communities based around fighting for nuclear plants.
It is likely to be a resource for years to come as we work to bring Weinberg's vision of the second nuclear era into fruition.
If you read only one, make it THIS one!
There are many excellent books about the what and the why of nuclear power. This one is about the _how_ of pro-nuclear advocacy.
âCampaigning for Clean Air,â by Meredith Angwin, is perhaps the best book on activism I have ever read â and I have read my share of them.
