Can I Retire?

Randy Lord tells us how he went from having a career as an actor to becoming an attorney and then how he and his husband Steve retired to care for their elderly parents. We can some great perspectives on finding fulfillment through service and how to enjoy travel as retired people!

Mary Flynn had an interesting and creative career, among other things she was a Hallmark Greeting card writer and an executive at Walt Disney. She has retired to a life of writing and promoting her award winning work.

Mary Lee Carter and I graduated together from SAK Improv school in Orlando 8 years ago. Since then she has gone on to be a well known local actress in community theater here in Central Florida, this after having a successful career in the title insurance industry. Now she has an even more interesting job, she is a "Medical Simulator" and portrays various patient care scenarios for hospital training. It's fascinating stuff that you won't want to miss!

Licensed therapist and life coach Monte Drenner joins us this week to discuss getting mentally prepared to retire. He and his wife, Sandy, are the owners of MTC Counseling in Windermere, Fl and he had a lot to say about creating new routines and making appropriate life choices to live a fulfilling life in retirement. Liz and I also talk about Social Security choices. 

David McGillivray has led one of the most interesting lives of anyone that I've met. He has overcome major adversity and realized his dream of becoming a featured dancer in both Toronto and New York, danced on Broadway, that's an interesting enough story but after he retired from dance he became an acupuncture doctor here in Florida. He tells us his story and has some great health tips for those entering retirement.
