Bible stories are...a bit weird aren't they? We gloss them over and sanitize them without thinking and at the same time rob the purpose. What happens when we engage with them, intentionally, with a small group of those closest to us?

Guest Bio:

Justin Gerhardt is the creator of the podcast Holy Ghost Stories—an episodic, immersive telling of the stories of the Old Testament with an emphasis on character and craft. He serves as the founder and president of Hazefire Studios, a nonprofit devoted to expanding the intersection of story and worship.

After studying philosophy and Biblical studies, Justin served for 20 years as a senior pastor and preacher before beginning a 2-year-long season of global nomadism with his family, working alongside churches in England, Croatia, Ireland, and South Africa. He and his wife, author JL Gerhardt, lead The Storied Family, a parenting workshop to help families discover their identity and purpose in the context of God’s story. Every other week, he publishes “The Latest,” a newsletter devoted to his newest projects and discoveries.

Guest Bio:

Rabbi Daniel Bogard is proud to be a native St. Louisian. He grew up at Central Reform Congregation, and spent his summers as a song-leader at camps Ramot and Sabra. After graduating from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, he spent a year teaching at Lift for Life Academy before heading off to Rabbinical School at Hebrew Union College. It was there that he met Rabbi Karen Kriger Bogard, his co-rabbi and life partner.

Today, Daniel is excited and honored to be a part of the rabbinic team at Central Reform Congregation. He is a Senior Rabbinic Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute and is adjunct faculty at Eden Theological Seminary.

Ekemini Uwan (pronounced Eh-keh-mi-knee Oo-wan) is a public theologian and co-author of Truth’s Table: Black Women’s Musings on Life, Love, and Liberation.  She is the co-host of the award-winning podcast,  Truth's Table and Get In The Word With Truth’s Table. Uwan is the Black Christian Experience Resource Center’s 2022 inaugural Theologian-in-Residence and a 2021 member of the Aspen Institute’s Racial Justice and Religion Commission. Ekemini is also a contributing writer for Hallmark Mahogany and Christianity Today named her among "10 New or Lesser-Known Female Theologians Worth Knowing.” In 2021, she earned the IMPACT Award from The Institute for the Study of the Black Christian Experience for work with Truth’s Table Podcast.

Aaron is a liturgist, writer, and pastor in the Chicago area. After leading worship at Mars Hill Church (Grand Rapids, MI) and Willow Creek Church, he created A New Liturgy- a collection of modern liturgical worship recordings. Shortly after, he started a practice-based community at Willow Creek called The Practice. 

His new book about a practice-based faith called The Eternal Current: How a Practice-Based Faith Can Save Us from Drowning.
