Speaker Bios:
Dr. Andy Aldrin is President of the Aldrin Family Foundation, an organization dedicated to harnessing the inspiration of space. Dr. Aldrin is also Program Chair and Founder of the Master of Space Operations program at Embry-Riddle University. Before moving into academia, Dr. Aldrin had a distinguished career in industry and government research, including executive positions at Boeing, United Launch Alliance and Moon Express. He serves on the board of several charitable organizations, including The Secure World Foundation, Sea Space Symposium, Space for Humanity, and the Tau Zero Foundation. Aldrin’s father, Buzz, walked on the Moon with Neil Armstrong.
Prof. Brian Kaplinger is an Assistant Professor in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Kansas. His research interests include astrodynamics, trajectory and mission design, and vision-based spacecraft guidance, navigation and control. Prof. Kaplinger has collaborated with both Dr. Aldrin and Buzz Aldrin on a number of research projects exploring Mars Cyclers, which we’ll get into much more detail about in a moment.
