The Satanic Temple located in Salem, MA has filed a lawsuit against Boston for not being allowed to give the opening prayer for a city council meeting. A U.S. District Court Judge has allowed several of the complaints to move forward. The temple is arguing that it is against the First Amendment to pick and choose who can give an opening prayer and who cannot. Boston claims they are not discriminating against TST, they are enabling the councilors to invite various religious members from Boston’s own community to address the body.
