We look at nativity scenes, but do we really see God? We cannot see him directly, because of our moral flaws/sin, although we can see something of his nature and ways in creation and our minds/conscience. Yet, if we trust in Jesus Christ alone, we can know him now in a deep spiritual way by the indwelling Holy Spirit, as well as know his presence in the age to come more directly when God's presence will be with us.
