Let's say your father is from Mexico. Your Mother is from Jamaica and you are raised in Scotland. You move to Canada to settle and make roots. But what do you root to? Your father's heritage? Your mother's? What about your Scottish upbringing? This is a Third Culture Kid.
Last week, a new magazine, 'Three', launched in Canada. Inspired and created by a Third Culture Kid (TKC), Muraly Srinarayanathas' new publication is set to shatter stereotypes and spotlight the vibrant lives of third culture people in Canada. We dive into the term coined by Ruth Useem in the '50s and take a ride through identity crises, cultural roots, and the inspirational perspectives TCKs bring to the table. Emotional resilience, an understanding of cross cultural communication and a global perspective are truly the components Canada needs to guide the future. And these are all embodied in third culture kids.
Stick around, engage with our DEI-packed content, and don't forget to shower us with those five-star reviews. You're welcome!
Also, stay tuned as we will be featuring a guest who grew up as a third culture kid. Canadian Salad is a voice of immigrants and without their voices, this salad is pretty bland.
