At Frog Lake, Cree warriors led by Wandering Spirit killed nine settlers in an event that would become one of the most remembered and misunderstood moments of the North-West Resistance. In the aftermath, Canadian forces retaliated swiftly, and several Cree leaders were executed.

But alongside the official records and military reports, another story survived.

Multiple Cree witnesses later spoke of looking to the sky that day and seeing a figure in the clouds, a man on horseback. Some believed it was a warning. This is not a story about harsh weather.

It is a story about power, displacement, and what happens when human beings are treated as political tools.
