In many years past, Native American women were told to stuff dirt inside themselves if they were captured by the military, in the hopes the men would just kill them…and not defile them…A sobering statistic provided by IndianLaw.org “More than 4 in 5 American Indian and Alaska Native women have experienced violence, and more than 1 in 2 have experienced sexual violence”. I’m afraid that these numbers aren’t even accurate, as we know, these crimes often go unreported by the victims and local/national media. Candi Rough Surface is not just another victim.
