About Newflands:

12 May 2010 is a day Fiona Robertson will never forget. Her beautiful Newfoundland dog, Rosie, was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), a terminal heart condition common to the breed.

Fiona, a qualified veterinary nurse, was not about to give up on her pet. She had read widely about the benefits of fish oil and decided she would try to find a fish oil supplement in the hope that this would improve the quality of her dog’s life and perhaps even prolong it.

Fiona’s love of Rosie wasn’t confined to dogs. She has a love and great respect for all animals and for the environment. So Fiona wasn’t interested in any fish oil. Her fish oil supplement had to be sustainable and ethically sourced and produced. Furthermore she wanted a New Zealand product.

Fiona could not find the product she wanted, so she decided to manufacture her own. This was the beginning of Newflands.

Fiona started her trials using a refined human-grade product on her Newfoundland dogs. The results were spectacular:

+ Coat and skin health improved
+ Rosie’s arrhythmia was better controlled
+ Fiona’s oldest dog, Flame, had increased mobility as a result of improved joint health.

Neighbors even noticed the difference in her dogs’ health and wanted to know what product she was using. So now Fiona had a product and a market and Newflands was launched.

As well as promoting products and expanding her range, Fiona is working alongside Massey University to provide scientific proof of the benefits of using Omega supplements.

About Dr. Katie Stender:

Dr. Katie Stender is a veterinarian based out of Northeastern Florida.  In addition to her important role as a hospice veterinarian, Dr. Katie is an active member of her community. Dr. Katie finds great privilege in being able to connect with families in their homes. She is a graduate of the University of Florida, for both her undergraduate studies, and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  After graduating, she worked in a traditional vet clinic while also working with a group of veterinarians providing in-home euthanasia.  It quickly became clear what her calling was, and she started exclusively practicing in-home end of life care. Dr. Katie is excited about forming local community partnerships and serving clients more directly.

About Rescue Retriever:

*Twin brothers and dog lovers on a mission to rescue as many pets as we can*

 I have had to give the heart breaking news that a family pet didn't survive a house fire far too many times. We do our best as firefighters to rescue your pets but most times we don't even know they are there. I created this product to change that. Rescue Retriever will not only alert first responders that there is a pet in the home, but help us navigate towards the direction pet owners want us to search first. Rescue Retriever was an idea I had long ago. I am truly excited that we can now see Rescue Retriever a reality. I believe all firefighters and first responders will benefit in our fight to rescue more pet's and serve our communities.

As a brother to a fire firefighter and twin you would think we would both follow the same path. I left the hero stuff to my brother. As Ryan is tough in a fire fight my passion is in business. The connection between the two of us has always been strong. We work tirelessly in our fields of work and excel in high stress environments. In some ways being an entrepreneur is just as hard as a firefighter. We both look after our teams we assemble, instill trust and guidance, make critical decisions, and try to lead everyone to success in life and careers. Our skills have finally come together with Rescue Retriever. The company and Rescue Retriever that we have created not only holds the bond of the love we share as brothers but the love that all our customers have for their pets.
