We’ve all heard of Indica, Sativa, and Hybrids when talking about how a particular strain may affect you. But there’s another key ingredient called terpenes. They are found in all plants and provide the plant’s aroma, its characteristics, and how are bodies react when consuming them. Essentially, it’s why putting lavender oil in your tea before bedtime affects you differently than squeezing a lime into your water. For the next few episodes, we’re exploring the role that terpenes play in medicinal cannabis.
My next guest, Wesley Robins, sat down to with me to talk about terpenes. Wesley works at the Kannabis Works dispensary in Santa Ana, California. His title is Interpener, which means he helps patients, customers, and Kannabis Works staff better understand how terpenes affect cannabis strains.

There have been many changes in the legal cannabis market in California since adult-use of cannabis became legal in January 2018. While there have been many positive developments, legal cannabis prices have gone up, making it harder for some people to purchase cannabis in licensed dispensaries. As a result, the underground, illicit cannabis market in California is thriving, which is an unintended result of the adult-use legalization. Fortunately, one forward-thinking cannabis company is doing something about it for the medical cannabis community.
My guest is Kevin Bulbulyan, the CEO of Branded. Their ethos and company mission is to help patients keep their access to the high-quality, legal medicine they need. I spoke with Kevin at the Branded offices in North Hollywood, California.
