The behavior you describe does happen today. There are several reasons why:

• Spiritual immaturity. Some Christians know Scripture but have not allowed it to transform their hearts. The Bible says, "Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up" (1 Corinthians 8:1).
• Pride. People sometimes use the Bible to prove they are right rather than to help someone grow.
• Unresolved hurt. Those who have been wounded in church may criticize every church or every leader without distinguishing between genuine problems and faithful ministry.
• Denominational division. Some believers believe their denomination is the only one pleasing God, leading them to attack other Christians instead of focusing on Christ.
• Social media and public criticism. Today it is easy to criticize pastors and churches publicly without following the biblical process for resolving conflict.
• A lack of the fear of God. When reverence for God declines, people often become careless with their words and how they treat fellow believers.

Church bashing is the habit of constantly criticizing, mocking, or attacking churches, pastors, or Christians in ways that tear down rather than build up. While churches should be held accountable for sin or false teaching, criticism should be truthful, loving, and aimed at restoration—not humiliation.

The Bible teaches believers to:

Speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

• Restore others gently (Galatians 6:1).
• Avoid gossip and slander (Ephesians 4:29, 31).
• Correct with patience (2 Timothy 2:24–25).

Many people have experienced what you described—Christians "beating one another with the Bible."

Jesus never intended Scripture to be used to shame people. He used God's Word to bring people to repentance, forgiveness, and truth. The Pharisees often used Scripture to condemn others while ignoring their own hearts. Jesus rebuked them for this in Matthew 23.

The Bible is compared to a sword (Hebrews 4:12), but that sword is meant to expose sin and point people toward God—not to satisfy personal anger or win arguments.

Before correcting someone, believers should ask:

• Am I speaking because I love this person?
• Am I trying to restore or simply to prove I am right?
• Would Jesus approve of my attitude?

Religious intimidation occurs when someone uses their position, authority, or even Scripture to control, silence, shame, or manipulate another person instead of leading them with humility and love.

Examples include:

• Telling someone they are "not saved" simply because they disagree on a nonessential issue.
• Using fear to keep people from asking honest questions.
• Threatening spiritual punishment to gain control.
• Publicly embarrassing someone to force obedience.
• Twisting Scripture to support personal opinions or authority.

This is different from Biblical correction is loving, patient, and seeks restoration. Religious intimidation seeks control through fear.

The church should respond in a biblical way:

1. Teach sound doctrine with love. Truth and grace must go together.
2. Correct privately whenever possible (Matthew 18:15–17).
3. Encourage humility. Every believer is still growing.
4. Pray before confronting others.
5. Keep Christ at the center, not personalities or denominations.
6. Hold leaders accountable to be examples in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
7. Promote unity without compromising biblical truth.

The greatest witness of the church is not winning arguments but reflecting the character of Christ. The world expects Christians to disagree at times, but it should also see believers treating one another with love, respect, and humility.

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:35)

When Christians use Scripture to heal rather than wound, to restore rather than destroy, and to encourage rather than intimidate, the church becomes what Christ intended—a place where truth is proclaimed, grace is experienced, and lives are transformed.

Sin is rarely confronted.People seek comfort more than conviction.Worship becomes a performance instead of an offering to God.Church attendance is based on convenience rather than commitment.Prayer meetings become empty while entertainment events are full.Christians desire popularity more than holiness.

The fear of God is not being afraid that He wants to destroy us. It is having such reverence, respect, and love for Him that we desire to obey Him.

That same call remains relevant today. Churches can use modern tools and creative methods, but they should never replace the power of the Holy Spirit, the authority of Scripture, or the centrality of Jesus Christ. The goal is not simply to fill seats—it is to make faithful disciples who know, love, and obey the Lord.

The death of a family matriarch often changes the entire family dynamic. Many people assume that after the mother or grandmother passes away, the family will naturally become closer. In reality, the opposite sometimes happens. The person who held everyone together is no longer there to encourage gatherings, settle disagreements, or remind everyone of the importance of family.

For Christians, this can be especially painful because Scripture teaches both love for God and love for one another. Yet being a Christian does not automatically remove past hurts, misunderstandings, pride, or unforgiveness. Spiritual growth is a lifelong process.

• Unresolved hurts from childhood. Old wounds may never have been discussed or healed.
• Pride. No one wants to be the first to apologize or take the first step.
• Different expectations. Family members may disagree over finances, property, caregiving, or other responsibilities.
• Busy lives and distance. Work, marriage, and raising children can reduce communication.
• Grief affects everyone differently. Some withdraw while others seek closeness.
• Lack of forgiveness. Past offenses continue to build walls between siblings.

Jesus said:

"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:35)

The Apostle Paul wrote:

"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." (Romans 12:18)

And in Ephesians 4:31-32:

"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger... be put away from you... And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

• Someone must take the first step. Waiting for everyone else to change usually keeps the family divided.
• Pray together. A family that sincerely prays together invites God to soften hearts.
• Have honest conversations. Listen without interrupting or trying to win an argument.
• Choose forgiveness. Forgiveness does not excuse wrong behavior, but it releases bitterness.
• Focus on the relationship rather than being right. Winning an argument can cost a family.
• Create new family traditions. Gather for meals, birthdays, holidays, or a yearly family reunion in honor of the matriarch's legacy.
• Serve one another. Love is demonstrated through actions, not just words.

Even if some family members do not respond, each believer is called to do their part to seek reconciliation while entrusting the outcome to God.

This is a painful situation, especially when it involves people you once prayed with, worshiped with, and considered close friends. The Bible speaks often about pride and the attitude that leaders should have.

Jesus taught that leadership in God's kingdom is not about being above others but about serving them.

Mark 10:42-45 – "Whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister... For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister."

If someone's position in the church has caused them to become proud or to look down on others, that is not the example Christ gave

Examine your own heart first.Before speaking to them, pray and ask God to help you respond with humility instead of anger.

Psalm 139:23-24 – "Search me, O God, and know my heart..."

This doesn't mean you are at fault, but it keeps your spirit right before God

Don't assume their motives.Sometimes people become busy, overwhelmed, or unaware of how they come across. Pride is possible, but it is wise to focus on what you have observed rather than what you believe they are thinking.

Instead of saying:"You think you're better than everyone.""I've noticed our fellowship has changed, and I miss the closeness we once had. At times I've felt overlooked. Can we talk about it?"

Speak the truth in love.

Remember that position does not make someone greater.

God looks at the heart, not titles.

"God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble."

A pastor, elder, deacon, minister, or ministry leader is still called to walk humbly before God

• A title does not make us greater.

Ask yourself and your congregation:Has my position changed my attitude?Do I treat people differently because of their status?Would people describe me as approachable or prideful?Am I serving people, or expecting people to serve me?If my title were taken away, would my character remain the same?Remember that every believer stands on equal ground at the foot of the cross. Different people have different responsibilities in the church, but no one is more valuable in God's sight because of a title or position.

If a friend has become distant or prideful after receiving a leadership position, pray for them, approach them with grace if appropriate, and continue walking humbly with Christ. Today we're asking a question that many Christians have wondered about but few are willing to discuss: Is it ever okay to make fun of the church?

The Bible shows that there is a difference between exposing hypocrisy and mocking what God calls holy. We can laugh about our human imperfections, our traditions, and even some of the things we do that need to change. But when our humor begins to dishonor God, mock Jesus Christ, treat the Holy Spirit lightly, or make light of the sacrifice of the cross, we've crossed a line.

Our goal isn't to silence humor. Joy and laughter are gifts from God. Our goal is to make sure our words glorify Christ instead of tearing down His Church.

Today we'll explore where that line is, what Scripture teaches about reverence, and how Christians can use truth, wisdom, and even appropriate humor to point people toward repentance rather than away from God.

Let's open God's Word together and discover the difference between laughing with humility and mocking what heaven calls holy.

Ask yourself:Does this honor God?Will this strengthen someone's faith?Am I exposing sin or simply making fun of people?Would I be comfortable saying this if Jesus were physically present?

If the answer is no, it is probably better left unsaid.

These scams exploit people's trust and faith, and they can also occur through fake checks or phishing for sensitive information. 

• Verify requests: Do not trust emails or texts asking for urgent money, especially gift cards. Always verify by calling the church office or the leader directly using a known phone number.
• Be wary of pressure: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to rush you into donating. Legitimate organizations will not pressure you for an immediate, on-the-spot donation.

Be mindful just be yourself and you dont have change to fit in ?being hurt enough that they have to, seeing something inspiring enough that they are motivated to, learning enough that they want to, and receiving enough support or resources that they are able to. These factors represent the internal and external triggers that can push individuals toward or enable them to make significant life changes.  Researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine have discovered that humans undergo two major changes in their molecules and microorganisms around ages 44 and 60 Key biblical principles include praying for those who persecute you, living at peace with everyone if possible, and overcoming evil with good through acts of kindness and generosity. Instead of taking offenses personally or seeking revenge, the focus should be on demonstrating compassion and following Christ's example.
