Have you ever struggled with feeling like the stress of your life is outweighing everything else? Burnout is a real problem that you and the people around you may face throughout life. One thing you might not realize is that burnout is optional. In Exodus, Moses faces challenges leading Israel into the Promised Land. He realized that he was carrying too many things on his own and there was a better way. Jesus calls on you to cast all of your burdens on Him and take rest in Him. With Jesus, you and the people around you can take comfort in knowing Jesus knows what you’re facing, is in charge of your life, and is always at work. How can you partner with Jesus this week to find rest for your soul?

Have you or a loved one ever experienced depression? Depressive episodes are so prevalent in the United States, and you can find help and hope in the Bible. In Numbers 11:17, Moses has been crying out to God in his depression, and God responds that he will pour his Spirit upon people who will help Moses. When was the last time you experienced grief or had to walk a loved one through grief? Grief is an aspect of life that will always be present whenever significant losses occur. In these times, God calls on you to share in your burdens and embrace grief with others, as Jesus himself wept at the death of his friend. Each step of grief that you experience and see others around you experience is unique to the loss that occurred. In times of grief, leaning on God for comfort can also help you comfort others. God calls you to show up, pray, and check in with those grieving than stepping away out of fear. What are some ways you are dealing with grief? How are you supporting your people through their grief?
Do you deal with anxiety or worry in your life? All around the bible, God calls you to cast your anxiety and worry onto Him! In a world where it can be so easy to stay stuck in fear, God invites you to share what you deeply care about with Him so that your cares and thoughtfulness don’t turn to anxiety or worry. Anxiety can separate and distract you from what really matters in your life. But with Jesus, you can cling to God, find support in the community, and pray so that you may experience his peace and security.
Have you ever struggled with your mental health or know a loved one who has? Mental health is one of the biggest problems faced by the world today, as 1 in 5 humans are faced with struggles of mental health. In 2nd Corinthians, Paul describes how God will give you comfort in your troubles and provides a community for you to find rest. As a follower of Christ, God calls on you to rely on him through the midst of all the obstacles you’re facing. Some ways to start walking in this path with God and the others around you is to show up for those in your life, acknowledge your role, and seek God with your community. What step will you choose to take?

Do you ever find yourself caught up in wanting to possess the newest item or feeling the need to show off your most recent purchase? Greed can easily infiltrate your life, especially in a culture where importance is placed on storing earthly treasures. Jesus says in Luke 12:31, to "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need." Jesus invites you not to find your worth in material possessions, but to seek Him and live in simplicity. Some ways to partner with God in simplifying our lives include giving to others around you, cleaning out areas of your home or life, and being more intentional in purchases and how they honor God. What next step can you take this week to live with a renewed concern for God and a joyful unconcern for materials?

Do you ever find yourself being overwhelmed by the expectations placed on you, whether it comes from family and friends, from the workplace, or even from yourself? When expectation comes from all different directions, it leads to exhaustion. In John 17:4, Jesus says, “I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.” Jesus’ invitation to you is to discover your unique contribution in his direction, which becomes clearer when you learn to say no in order to say yes to the better thing. Every choice is a chance to encounter and partner with God, moving towards more meaningful and sustainable days.
