It’s been over 71 years since the last global conflict. We know who America is and what America stands for. Through the years, we have fought over what we should be but at the heart of every political argument, I think everyone can agree that America means a free society. We are people who wish for freedom. We wish for self-governance and a place where all are welcome to become something more. Off the western cost of America lies the reminder of what we will stand for should our society be tested. In more than one way, we embody the ideals that are bled into our constitution. We fight for the rights of many, not the few and we stand to defend the land that makes us who we are. But what about the darker periods of American History? What about the history we choose to ignore.

The Abandoned Podcast is a podcast focused on the history and lore of abandoned places and locations throughout the world. The houses we build, the places we go, the monuments we create, are all part of the physical world around us. Humans inherently are creators. We pour our passion into our society, yet sometimes when all order fails, only our physical imprints our left. The west. It’s magnificent peeks and shallow valleys and river basins are just the tip of the iceberg that defines the rocky region of the United States. Sometimes, the greatest stories are the ones we have forgotten.

Silver and Gold

We cannot stop fall from coming, or winter for that matter, but we can be aware of our own behaviors that contribute to them becoming harsher every year. We live in a large place, with some of the most amazing natural beauty to ever exist on this planet, but, within that beauty lies little reminders of our past and past that we sometimes just cannot seem to keep a hold of.

The presence of humans in the new world, or America, predates any European explorers by thousands of years. This was their land to begin with and we did what we have done best over the years, we stole until we got exactly what we wanted.

 When we choose to ignore our problems, when they are not on the surface, sometimes overlooked, they can have a devastating reaction. Those choices we all make, individually or collectively all make an impact on our future and sometimes, that future can be devastating.

There is something about Germanic fairy-tales that is captivating and when told right, everyone creates a similar mental picture. A castle in a far off land, a tower and a princess that is always in need of saving. The funny thing with fairy tales is that they are always some what grounded in reality.
