In love, “intimacy” is the goal.  It’s that closeness and connection to another person, where “he is mine” meets “I am his”, where fully-knowing meets being-fully-known.  Once discovered it should be celebrated …nakedly.

There are no shortcuts to intimacy.  It cannot be “taken” or “made” or “had”.  It can only be discovered along the journey of relationship.  Along the road, there’s a one-way bridge called Partnership that every couple must cross.  It must be crossed together.

Every exciting romantic relationship includes attraction, friendship, partnership, and intimacy.  Valuing those the right amount - and pursing them in the right order - is the difference between the “good love” God designed and the “bad love” we often find.  The most foundational element - but most neglected and easiest to lose - is Friendship.  It matters.
