Capitol Ministries Weekend

“Our efforts to establish ministries to teach God’s Word to political leaders must intensify. There is an increasingly wide open door before us like never before; we need a greater sense of urgency that fuels both prayer and personal industriousness.”

This week I would like to examine one of my favorite passages from the book of Ephesians that deals with God’s expectations of the way a believer speaks. This is really good stuff! One’s mastery over his tongue is extremely important in public office. Let us open up Ephesians 4:29 this week and learn what God has to say to us in this regard.

Are we in the process of exchanging the worship of the Creator for the worship of His creation?

“The Word of God has the power to transform nations from ashes and ruins into blooming economies and from spiritual blindness and obliviousness to revival and transformation.”

Those are the words of Slavik Rimski who was named Capitol Ministries’ full-time Global Director for Eastern and Western Europe last year and charged with growing the ministry’s mission across the continent.

The love of God is so massive, deep, wide, towering, all encompassing, that the human mind cannot understand it. At the same time, at the point of salvation and to the degree that we allow Christ to dwell in our hearts, the believer is rooted and grounded in God’s Love.

This Valentine’s Day, as our thoughts turn to the love we have for our wives, husbands, family, and friends, let us also contemplate that which is truly incomprehensible—the love that God has for each one of us. Just as important, we should reflect on what our response to God’s deep and abiding love should be.

Wise are the individuals who can discern not only their own, but another’s epistemological presuppositions when analyzing something. Wise is the citizen who can discern a candidate’s epistemological presuppositions before casting his or her ballot. Heightening your awareness and abilities regarding “starting points” is what this Bible study is all about. Read on, my friends.

Secular journalists have recently concocted the term “Christian Nationalist.” They are labeling many well-meaning Christians who are serving in public office with the pejorative designation with the intent to marginalize their influence in the public square. So what do they mean when they charge you with this? This Bible study is intended to unpack that term (which is not a new subset of Evangelicalism, by the way—it is just a newly coined term to describe it) and aid you with the theological knowledge to persuade you, hopefully, to not be one. By painting public servants who trust in Christ for their salvation as “Christian Nationalists,” the secular journalist hopes to instill fear in the voting populous.

So it is important for you to know what this means and why it is not a biblically-based precept to begin with.

While men have endeavored, strived, and dreamed of ways to change a nation’s culture for the better, as with all things, the Bible has provided the answer all along.

“What change could be wrought in our world. What a high calling that God has given to us. As we are faithful in carrying the name of Jesus into the political realm, may God use our efforts to see many come to know the Lord and serve Him!”
