Addiction psychiatrist Dr. Wiplove (Wip) Lamba, addictions case manager and former addict Jean-Paul (JP) Michael have been discussing the clinical assessment. In a previous talk, they discussed the content and compared and contrasted different kinds of assessments. Today, they discuss the “process”. This includes the context, the questions you ask, how you formulate the person, and how you give recommendations. Here they share different approaches in different situations, pros and cons of different ways of dressing, the importance of authentic acceptance before you can give advice on change, and most interestingly the value of direct vs indirect communication.
