Old Fashioned Romance

Old Fashioned in that the hero is a big, strong and a bit of a bully, almost sexually assaulting the heroine. Seems like this passed for romance a while back. If you like stories with a very strong, dominate male lead and a weaker female, this one is for you. If you can't figure out why the heroine falls in love with a man who is trying to intimidate her (and mostly succeeds) take a pass. There isn't much of the hero's actions which really indicate that he is falling in love with the heroine, just some words in the last chapter or two but even then, his actions seem to say otherwise.

1980 copyright

I read the description of the book and saw the 2012 publication date.

In the book it states that the copyright is from 1980. I have two rules when buying a romance book - none published before the late 1990's and none written in first person. The second rule I will break if the story sounds very good, the first one I won't break unless deceived like I feel like I was here.

The dialogue is cringeworthy. Partial spoiler: the "hero" gets the bikini top of the heroine and tells her she can run away but any man finding her in such a state would unlikely be able to restrain himself, because he is barely able to restrain himself. I almost stopped reading there, but continued to the bitter, highly predictable end.

I can't recommend this to anyone, and if I hadn't got it back in April I would have returned this.

Didn't like it

Didn't like how the story developed. The author didn't give the characters enough common sense. I keep thinking - How dumb are you, anyway.

I read where one person was upset because this was written in 1980... Soooo? It doesn't take from the story it is still a good read. Most of these books are older the reason it says 2012 or 2013 is because that's when it was made for e-books. No deceit, just facts. I myself enjoyed the story, it kept me involved and honestly I had no idea until close to the end. Do I recommend this book, yes I do,it was refreshing.

Good book

I was pleasantly surprised by this little romance. Cute story, loved the feisty h, and no sex scenes :)))) Happy, happy,happy! Hard to find clean romances these days. There was still plenty of sparks between our hero and heroine but the most they did was kiss. Although I was worried a time or two but the author did keep it in the sweet category. Well written, a few small editing errors but hardly noticeable-not even enough to deter the flow of the book and not too short or drawn out-read in one evening. Hope this helps.
