A Ford vs. General Motors rivalry in Formula One racing took another step closer to reality this October. Formula One’s governing body, the FIA, approved Andretti Cadillac’s application to join the world’s most prestigious motorsport series and its 445 million global TV audience. If Andretti Cadillac gets final approval (a big if) from other teams in the series, the new entry will take on motorsports behemoths like Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull Ford. The UAW strike exploded into a national political issue this fall when President Joe Biden and 2024 presidential rival Donald Trump held dueling Michigan appearances with auto workers. Trump made big inroads amongst working class voters in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania in 2016 after EPA anti-coal policies crippled energy jobs. Trump sees a similar scenario with EV mandates.
