In this episode, we are simply delighted to be with our beloved bliss sister and dear friend, Victoria Bennett (Vik) who is a poet, author, creative activist, and Wild Woman. 

When not juggling writing, full-time care, and genetic illness, she can be found where the wild weeds grow…within ALL MY WILD MOTHERS:  her debut memoir of motherhood, loss and an apothecary garden.

Her writing spans non-fiction, memoir, poetry and games-based storytelling. It was long listed for the inaugural Nan Shepherd Prize (2019), and the Penguin WriteNow (2020) programme, and was a winner of a Northern Debut Award (2020) for non-fiction from New Writing North, and an early extract won the Mother’s Milk Writing Award 2017.

Vik founded Wild Women Press in 1999 to support rural women writers in her community and curates the global Wild Woman Web project, an inclusive online space focusing on nature, connection, and creativity.

• If we don’t choose love – what are we choosing instead?

• We can choose our destination but we need to know exactly where we are and where we wish to go.
• Love is the only way and when it feels like it is not love it is only just a lack of love.

• Live Simply.
• Give More.
• Expect Goodness.
• DECIDE to love it!  That’s the way of love!

A California Poet in the Schools, Meredith leads Writing By Heart workshops at public & private schools, women’s prisons, The Institute for Poetic Medicine, The Kennedy Center for the Arts, wellness retreats, and online for adults and teens.

• We ask the question…Do you write the poem or does the poem write you? 
• What does it mean to Be 1000% percent present and get 1000% out of the way so the creative muse can come through?

Her passion is empowering people to believe in themselves, trust their creative instincts, tap their wild wisdom, express their truth, and ignite their hearts.

She is the author of Write a Poem, Save Your Life, and three poetry collections, Songlines, Yuba Witch, & River Spells. Meredith was selected as a teaching-artist for an online education program through The Kennedy Center for the Arts. She was made a Poetry Partner by the Institute of Poetic Medicine, and she receives a grant from them each year to teach in the women's prisons.

Meredith says, “If writing has claimed you as its own, as it has me, you will know that writing is how we breathe, how we bloom from darkness into love. Dig deep into the caverns of your memories, thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In this episode, we are in the presence of a Champion…Our Shero…a revolutionary advocate for this planet and its people, Julia Butterfly Hill!

For 738 days Julia Butterfly Hill lived in the canopy of an ancient redwood tree, called Luna, to help make the world aware of the plight of ancient forests. Her courageous act of civil disobedience gained international attention for the redwoods as well as other environmental and social justice issues, which is chronicled in her bestselling book The Legacy of Luna: The Story of a Tree, a Woman, and the Struggle to Save the Redwoods.

• Our souls are transformed by a Super-Shero of Resilience!
•  Bear it all...push at edges even when it's uncomfortable because that's where growth happens.
• We find a conscious "No" to one thing is a conscious "Yes" to something else!
• We don't have to hold it all... just allow it to flow through.
• Discover a pufferfish transform into a butterfly!
• With waste, there is no "away". Indigenous cultures don't even have a word for "trash".
• We don't need more stuff, we need to find more courage, more love. more           connectivity!

Julia, with the great help of steelworkers and environmentalists, successfully negotiated to permanently protect the 1,000 year-old tree and a nearly three – acre buffer zone.

On December 18, 1999 Julia Butterfly Hill, then 26, came down to a world that recognized her as a heroine and powerful voice for the environment.

Her courage, commitment and profound clarity in articulating a message of hope, empowerment, and love & respect for all life, has inspired millions of people worldwide. After she returned to the ground, Julia toured the world speaking about her experience, and about the many lessons she learned, to the media and audiences large and small.

The recipient of numerous prestigious awards and distinctive honors, Julia Butterfly Hill is one of the most internationally recognizable figures in environmental activism.

Julia founded the non-profit organization, Circle of Life and was the visionary of We The Planet, setting the standards for green festivals, events, and tours in the US.  She co-founded the Engage Network and is the inspiration behind What’s Your Tree. 

She has addressed the United Nations, lobbied congress, and has continued to stand on the front lines of environmental and social justice issues all over the world. 

   JULIA SAYS, “When I entered the majestic cathedral of the redwood forest for the first time, my spirit knew it had found what it was searching for. I dropped to my knees and began to cry because I was so overwhelmed by the wisdom, energy and spirituality housed in this holiest of temples”
