Anne-France is a former senior business executive with international experience born and raised within the globalisation and linear economy framework. Passionate about the positive impact that businesses could have on our lives, she was disappointed by the limitations of the shareholder value profit model. In the early 2000s, she was inspired by the social enterprise model and the solutions offered by the circular economy framework.

For the last 20 years Anne-France has been a start-up founder with its range of successes and failures. From creating an innovative brand of eco-friendly party bags, to raising funds for microfinance programs, creating a social enterprise network and then to energy efficiency Anne-France realised how few professionals were actually engaged in tackling social and environmental issues. Inspired by how people could make a difference to businesses and our lives she created KlimateNet in June 2021 along with her co-founder Sandeep Krishnappa to empower more professionals to discover the opportunities of working on projects that remove greenhouse gas emissions. 

KlimateNet’s mission is to give a chance to every professional in the world to have a successful and exciting career while contributing actively to slow down global warming. KlimateNet is the first global hybrid decentralised network that galvanises professionals to start or scale projects that will or are removing greenhouse gas emissions.

At just 17 years old, student Freddie Hedegaard founded Dungbeetle, a business dedicated to combating greenwashing in the voluntary carbon markets. Based in Bali, the company supports small-scale carbon projects that cannot afford certification from major accreditors like Verra and Gold Standard.

By collaborating with genuine, climate-friendly initiatives driven by purpose rather than profit, Dungbeetle aims to overcome the greenwashing stigma that has plagued the voluntary carbon market.

We chat about Freddie's experience launching his first start up, whilst at The Green School in Bali, and the challenges and opportunities he sees in the environmental sector.
