“Go to work on an egg” – perfect advice for care homes
The humble British egg has had a tough time of it in the last thirty years or more.
But the British egg is back in a big way. Packed with protein and vitamins but no sugar, it is playing a vital part on the care home menu – both as a cooked item in its own right or as part of dishes such as ice cream, cakes and mayonnaise.
In this special podcast we talk to British Lion Eggs about the importance of protein in residents' diets. Many residents are of an age where they remember how good eggs can be for their health.
Join food safety and hygiene specialist, Dr Lisa Ackerley and specialist older person’s dietitian, Alison Smith as they discuss how the protein provided by eggs helps older people in care homes guard against some of the problems increasing frailty can bring.
Of course, eggs must be cooked properly!

Sustainability has never been a more important subject for care homes.
Potential residents and their families are asking questions they have never asked before. And regulators, like the CQC, are including sustainability policies in their regulation procedures.
In a recent Care Home Management podcast, three people from companies providing services to care homes came together to discuss sustainability and how it is a subject that will be given even more prominence.
They were James Read, Chief Marketing Officer, of Zellar; Christina Larkin, Chief Data and Marketing Officer at JLA; and Nicole Fenton, Marketing Manager, Ontex Global.

The start of a brand new year is always a time for reflection on what has passed and a look ahead to what the next 12 months will offer.
On our latest podcast, sponsored by Rotacloud, Care Home Management brought together two experts to look ahead at both what the Care Quality Commission’s new assessment framework will mean for care home regulation and whether operators are as up to speed as they should be with using digital social care records that the CQC will be demanding.
Our experts Philippa Doyle, partner and head of social care at Hempsons solicitors and Daniel O’Shaughnessy, delivery manager at Digital Care Hub, which used to be known as Digital Social Care, discussed what care homes should do to prepare for the new framework and how they can seek help to ensure they equip themselves with the right systems.
