This is a very special episode celebrating the one year anniversary of Career Congregation Podcast.
Career Congregation was birthed out of Meghan seeing repeatedly with friends, with family, and with clients, people struggling with work. People not feeling satisfied in their careers. People being made redundant, suddenly fired, dealing with toxic workplaces, or just knowing deep down that what they were doing just was not quite right.
When we spend so much of our waking lives working, those experiences inevitably impact every part of life: our relationships, our wellbeing, our mental health and our sense of purpose. This podcast was created to help people take meaningful, conscious steps towards building a more fulfilling career and life.
This anniversary episode is a tribute to the incredible guests who have joined Career Congregation over the past year. Entrepreneurs, creatives, founders, athletes, coaches and professionals from around the world who bravely shared their stories. Not just the wins and achievements, but the struggles, rock bottoms, pivots and moments of doubt that shaped who they are today.
In this episode, Meghan revisits a powerful question she has asked every guest on the show:
What advice would you give to your younger self or to the version of you who was at rock bottom?
What follows is a collection of powerful reflections and lessons shared across the first year of the podcast. Honest, thoughtful advice about fear, confidence, failure, purpose, money, identity and the realities of building a meaningful life and career.
Across the episode, guests reflect on lessons such as:
• Trusting yourself and remembering that you are enough as you are
• Leaning into fear instead of running from it
• Not sacrificing your health in pursuit of success
• Building strong networks and surrounding yourself with the right people
• Taking bold action and backing yourself earlier
• Being willing to fail repeatedly while learning along the way
• Listening to your inner voice and paying attention to what truly matters
• Letting go of situations, jobs or relationships that no longer serve you
• Understanding that rock bottom can become a turning point
• Practising self compassion and allowing yourself time to heal
Many guests also speak candidly about the reality that careers rarely follow a straight line. There are setbacks, wrong turns, difficult bosses, financial pressure and moments where everything feels uncertain. Yet again and again the message comes back to the same core ideas: perseverance, self trust, community and the courage to keep going even when the path is not clear.
This is a poignant episode packed full of wisdom and practical advice for anyone navigating a career transition, building a business, recovering from burnout, or simply trying to figure out their next step.
And THANK YOU so much to all of the wonderful guests this past year. The show wouldn't be what it is now without all of you.
