In this episode, Edward Foo speaks with Reagan Lee, an experienced teacher and student, about becoming a great educator while still a student. Reagan shares his insights and tips on effective teaching, drawing from his own experiences.

Reagan Lee is a fifth-year medical student at the University of Edinburgh, and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has worked on integrating components of social sciences and ethics into the Edinburgh MBChB curriculum. He is also involved in the Accessibility in Medicine (AIM) society as previous tutorials lead and current President, and as previous tutorials coordinator for the Edinburgh University Cardiovascular Society, organising and teaching tutorials tailored to various groups of pre-clinical and clinical medical students.

Since recording, Dr Edward Foo has graduated from Edinburgh Medical School, and is set to undertake a Specialised Foundation Programme training post in London. He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with primary areas of interest spanning internal medicine, medical education and clinical communication.

In this episode, Edward Foo discusses the relevance and benefits of teaching as a medical student with Ian Lee from the University of Edinburgh.

Mr Ian Lee is a Lecturer in Medical Education and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He works mainly on the University of Edinburgh's Clinical Educator Programme - a staff development, CPD programme supporting clinical educators in their development as a teacher. Ian volunteers on the steering group and as a student mentor for the Edinburgh Medical School's 'Undergraduate Certificate in Medical Education' (UGCME). Ian also had a role in designing some of the original lessons that formed the first iteration of the University of Edinburgh's' Doctor as an Educator' (DaaE) module and continues to support that module where possible.

This week Dr Natalie Farmer discusses their chosen specialty, Respiratory Medicine, with Dr Marilena Giannoudi. Topics in the episode include Dr Farmer's journey into the specialty and a case example highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork in treating respiratory patients.

Dr Natalie Farmer is currently an ST6 Respiratory Registrar at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Dr Farmer has a passion for education and is the Respiratory Speciality Training Rep and runs the Respiratory Training days across the region.

Dr Marilena Giannoudi is a Cardiology Registrar based in Leeds. She is Co-Chair of the Trainees and Members’ Committee, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and is currently undertaking a PhD.

Dr Anda Bularga and Dr Aparna Potluru discuss PACES23 from an international medical graduate's perspective with Dr Joseph Zhao.
