A caregiver's journey is not an easy one. There's stress, frustration, sadness, and even anger. There are many ways to cope with these feelings, some good, some not so good. Learning mindfulness from my guest helped me tremendously. Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. I learned Scott's technique at the time my mom had fallen and broken her leg. This coincided with the onset of the Covid pandemic, a period marked by unprecedented stress for everyone. Faced with the decision of whether to undergo surgery to repair her leg, I was walking through the house when an overwhelming sense of frustration washed over me.Recognizing that anger wouldn't be productive, I immediately applied Scott's method and shifted my emotional state.Transforming from a state of agitation to self-assurance, I experienced a profound shift in perspective.
