  • SKA is still Rocking the world only not in Jamaica with Alphanso Castro
Ska (/'sk??/; Jamaican: is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. Ska combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. It is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the off-beat. Ska developed in Jamaica in the 1960s when Prince Buster, Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, and Duke Reid formed sound systems to play American rhythm & blues and then began recording their own songs. Some suggest ska dates to earlier times, however. In the early 1960s, ska was the dominant music genre of Jamaica and was popular with British mods. Later it became popular with many skinheads.Music historians typically divide the history of ska into three periods: the original Jamaican scene of the 1960s; the 2 Tone ska revival of the late 1970s in Britain, which fused Jamaican ska rhythms and melodies with the faster tempos and harder edge of punk rock; and the third wave of ska, which involved bands from the UK, other European countries (notably Germany), Australia, Japan, South America and the United States, beginning in the 1980s and peaking in the http://www.crsradio.com #crsradio #nowplaying

  • Celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood
My name is Autumn Tomlin. I am a Chamblee Charter Highschool class of 2017 graduate. I will be attending the illustrious Howard University in the fall. My intended major is architecture.  I transitioned to live with my father at the age of nine. With his assistance and support, I was able to maintain a 3.8 GPA, part- time job, and participate various extracurricular activities. Living with my father differed from living with my mother. It was definitely a learning experience because the roles each of my parents vary drastically. However, I am grateful that I was able to build a firm relationship with my dad over the years.
Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic Europe, it has been celebrated on March 19 (St. Joseph's Day) since the Middle Ages. This celebration was brought by the Spanish and Portuguese to Latin America, where March 19 is often still used for it, though many countries in Europe and the Americas have adopted the U.S. date, which is the third Sunday of June. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May
