  • Celebrity Link- The Unbridle Jamaican Reggae Icon Nicky Thomas
Celebrity Link- The Unbridle Jamaican Reggae Icon Nicky Thomas.Nicky Thomas (born Cecil Nicholas Thomas, 30 May 1949 – 1990) was a reggae singer who enjoyed considerable chart success in Jamaica and in the United Kingdom at the start of the 1970s.Nicky Thomas was born Fruitful Vale, Portland, Jamaica. He began work as a labourer in Kingston where he worked alongside future members of the The Gladiators. His opportunity to cuts some records came when former Jiving Junior and producer Derrick Harriott wrote and produced Run Mr Nigel Run for Thomas. A huge Jamaican hit the song led to him being known as Mr Nigel for a time. He was also successful with Come Home a song from the same session. This was followed by a successful association with producer Joel Gibson better known as Joe Gibbs for whom Thomas recorded the plaintive Running Alone and Lonesome Road issued as by Cecil Thomas, as well as a version of Let It Be credited to Nicky Thomas.Thomas' collaboration with Gibbs resulted in a number of hits including Don't Touch Me, Mama's Song and God Bless The Children.Thomas and Gibbs also covered a number of well regarded R&B hits that included Tyrone Davis' Turn Back The Hands of Time and (Baby) Can I Change Your Mind and Tony Joe White's Rainy Night in Georgia. He topped the Jamaican charts in 1970 with Have A Little Faith, a record that reputedly sold 50,000 copies on its release in the UK. It failed to chart in the UK because the sales were largely through specialist music shops and not statistically counted by the official chart compilers.www.caribbeanradioshow.con www.crsradio.com 661-467-2407

  • I was just thinking...News in 2015
This year we decided to do a news introduction. Most of what passes for news n the mainstream media is fluff or slanted or just plain inane.
It is difficult each week to decide on the topics at hand especially with a global audience and we are centered in North America the system that we speak about and it overt and covert wrangling is not just confined to this hemisphere.
Tonight we will hit on news stories that cover the gamut, and later in the broadcast we will concentrate on one or more subjects of interest to see if we can flesh them out.

  • Live:Deejay Jamaican icons Kojak and Mama Liza chat live from Jamaica
Kojak (b. Floyd Anthony Perch, kingston, Kingston, Jamaica, began his career chanting on various sound systems under the guise of Pretty Boy Floyd. He adopted the gangster image that had proved successful for Dennis Alcapone and Dillinger. He change stage name to Nigger Kojak. His debut, ‘Massacre’, proved a local hit. In 1978 Dennis Brown had an international hit with the remake of ‘Money In My Pocket’, which was followed by ‘Ain’t That Loving You’, featuring Kojak And Liza performing ‘Hole In De Bucket’. The partnership led to conflicting reports as to the identity of Kojak’s fellow artist, as there were in fact two Mama Lizas, Beverly Brown and Jacqueline Boland. His female partner was always labelled simply as Liza, which hindered the women’s careers,. The duo performed ‘Fist To Fist Rub A Dub’, a tribute to the soft drink Sky Juice, the modest ‘One Thousand Gal’ and the festive ‘Christmas Stylee’. By 1981 Kojak And Liza had become well established and the unprecedented success of ‘Nice Up Jamaica’ was endorsed by the Jamaican tourist board. The song, although on some pressings credited to the duo, was actually a solo from Floyd Perch that verged on the surreal. By 1982 he became known as Papa Kojak and was a featured DJ at the acclaimed Skateland show, recorded live as A Dee Jay Explosion. By 1996,  performing ‘What Time Is It’, was met with enthusiasm. The song was included on his distinguished comeback album of soul cover versions, which featured backing vocals from Nadine Sutherland, J.C. Lodge, Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt. The paucity of female DJ performers has often been criticized, along with the fact that early performances were only in a supporting role. The pioneering efforts of the two Lizas have since been acknowledged on record as influencing the likes of Sister Nancy and Lady Saw.call in 661-467-2407

R alph Morton was not your average fan at last year's Super Bowl.
Morton, executive director of the Seattle Sports Commission, had more on his mind than Super Bowl XLVIII. He paid close attention to how he was greeted at the airport, the location of his hotel and the restaurants he dined at days before the game.
His objective? To gain insight into hosting a Super Bowl."Absolutely, I believe we will one day host it in Seattle," said Morton, who served on two Super Bowl host committees as vice president of operations for the Greater .

  • REGGAE ROUND TABLE CHAT: Reggae Artist Do You know your Music Publishing Rights?
Music Publishing Rights? The broad bundle of rights that are associated with a musical copyright are known“music publishing rights.”These rights are not defined by statute but rather are terms recognized in the music industry. Similarly, the concept of the “writer’s share” versus the “publisher’s share” is based in practice, not law. 50% of the income derived from the exploitation of a composition is deemed to constitute the publisher’s share and 50% the writer’s share.Author assigns the copyright in the composition to the publisher, the publisher collects 100% of the income and, after deducting costs, balance for the author.Other typical types of arrangements between authors and music publishers include co-publishing agreements, under which the copyright ownership is shared author (heir) and publisher;administration agreements, under which the author (or heir) retains the copyright ownership and the publisher administers the rights; and co-administration agreements under which the author (or heir) retains the copyright ownership and co-administers the rights with the publisher. The performing rights societies have subscribed to the distinction between writer and publisher shares and allocate monies accordingly, usually paying the writer’s share to the author or his/her heirs.1.Dramatic or “Grand” Rights 2.Non-dramatic or “Small” Performance Rights 3.Synchronization Rights 4.Mechanical Rights 5.Print Rights 6.Concert Rental Rights 7.New Media Rights . Glenford Darby songwriter producer artiste aka Glen Judah  founding director of Jamaica Phonographic Performer and Videographic limited. Glen is advocating for musicians rights. He is partnering with the Song Embassy to lecture at the seminars and workshops to educate musicians about their rights.. 661-467-2407 .http://alterandkendrick.com/protecting-your-musical-copyrights/what-are-music-publishing-rights/

Question:Where is our Math and why so many Caribbean people are intimidating, having apprehension or fear while learning math.
Why teachers, students and parents have difficulty learning math? The Chinese have their own math, the Islamic have their own math, the Jews have their own math, the Caucasian European Americans have their own math. Where is our Math? The Caucasian Americans taught us their limited Curriculum of learning math. This is called Conventional math, or Conceptual math. We were taught to under stand, for too long we have been under the stand of learning math. Caucasian so-called white people under standing of math is called SPWOL system of learning. Spwol as an acronym means Slave Plantation Way Of Learning. They taught us Times Table as low, they call highest, 12 X 12 and stop. Graspmatyx is Perceptual math, based on 4 principles. Perception, Reasoning, Rhythm and Restoration. Our Times Table starts at zero to nine nine (they call ninety nine) and above mentally.
