What's Compelling About Your Business?
Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one minute investment every day for a lifetime of results.
We got to get your ideas out of our heads and onto paper. Now, given the times we're in, people will say all the time, oh my gosh, it's so hard to get good people. I can't keep my people. What do I do to attract good talent? And my answer to that–my first answer to that is, well, because you have a boring business, that's why you're having trouble attracting people. Your plan is not compelling nor is it inspiring, right? If you're just there to say, well, I provide a service and I help my clients. Well, that's cool, then not as that's not a noble and worthwhile mission and vision but it's not compelling or exciting to the outside world. Right? What does my mechanic do for my car, he changes my brakes. That's great. But I don't know how compelling and inspiring his business is. I don't know if he happens to be convenient for me. But he also complains, it's hard to get mechanics because you're a boring business. So it needs to be compelling and inspiring and here's how you know you've done them. Two questions. First question, what is so compelling and inspiring about your business, that your competitor's clients would be willing to leave them and have you as their vendor and pay more? That's question number one. Question number two, what's so compelling and inspiring about your business? That your competitor's employees would be willing to leave their come work to you–for you and earn less.
