What do you do when your industry disappears? Carl shares how his speaking career was impacted due to COVID.
Read full transcript:
Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one minute investment every day for a lifetime of results.
So take a moment and just think, where might you have left yourself susceptible? Now I’m a speaker, right? Well what has happened with mass in-person gatherings over the last year? I went from doing what is typically, speaking here for me, 60 to 80 presentations in a year. I did 6, 6 over the past year like in-person, I did some virtual cause I’ve done some virtual, I did some hybrid but think about it, that industry went away overnight soon everything shut down, every speaker in the world went out of business. Couldn’t travel internationally even if you could go, couldn’t travel internationally sometimes you couldn’t even travel within a state. I had a presentation in Canada and couldn't go, right? So what was the--where might--so the business model of a speaker is very vulnerable. We need mass gatherings, great that we can do it online but we really need them in-person. So that whole model so I’m not here saying you all did something wrong but think about it for a moment where was that susceptibility and then where was the outside pressure or trigger.
