In this episode, I talk with my friend, Rob Baker. Rob is a husband, father, minister, and graphic designer.
Rob and his wife, Mallory, have three girls and one boy. For 17 years, Rob has been a graphic designer for Apologetics Press, an apologetics organization dedicated to creating resources that teach the truths about God and His word. He also serves as the youth minister for the Wetumpka Church of Christ.
Rob and I talk about how important it is to build a strong spiritual foundation in the hearts of our children while they are young. We talk about how we can acknowledge God in our daily routines and how modeling a life of faith will be the most powerful way to guide our kids spiritually. Rob shares some practical insight using resources that have been very helpful to his family and some things he's been a part of creating at Apologetics Press.
Rob has greatly impacted my life just by his joy in living a godly life. I'm so grateful for his time and insights. Thank you for listening. I hope our conversation is helpful.

Hey, thanks for stopping by the Carline Conversations podcast. My name is Jason, and in this episode, I have a conversation with my friend Phil Albritton. Phil has the job I dreamed of having as a kid, he's a toymaker. That's right. He's up there with Mattel, Fisher-Price, Geppetto, and Tom Hanks in the movie BIG. All the greats!
Phil is a husband and father of two, so he has a unique perspective of being both a toy creator and a consumer. Phil shares some wisdom about age-appropriate toys, the value of play, and how we can use play to help our kids develop life skills.
One of the most impactful things Phil mentions is how we can cultivate a sense of wonder in the hearts of our children. And I just love that idea. This is such a fun conversation, and I'm so thankful for Phil's time and insight. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Thanks again for stopping by.
You can reach Phil at [email protected] or on LinkedIn. You should also check out his podcast, The Kid Power Podcast, on all major platforms. Phil's website is https://www.powerkiddesign.com/.
Hey thanks for stopping by the carline conversations podcast. My name is Jason. In this episode, I sit down with my good friend, Joey Sparks. Joey is a husband, father, and minister. He and his wife, Amanda, have two beautiful daughters. Joey has more than ten years of experience in graphic design and publishing.
It's no secret that the world we live in is growing more and more digital. Because of that, we as parents must teach our children how to live faithfully in a digital age. Joey and I discuss what that looks like as well as a few ways to empower our young people to be digital ambassadors for Christ. Joey offers up some social media principles that will help our kids navigate a world that can be both dangerous and full of opportunities for good. And he also talks about an upcoming book project he's working on.
I'm grateful for Joey sharing his time and insight with me, and I hope you find this conversation as helpful as I did.
If you'd like to get in touch with Joey, you can reach him at [email protected] or on Facebook.
Thanks for stopping by the Carline Conversations podcast; my name is Jason. In this episode, I sit down with my good friend Andrew Kingsley to discuss how we can prepare our kids to be faithful in college. Andrew is a husband and father of 3 and has more than ten years of experience working with teenagers and college students. He is currently the campus minister for the University Church of Christ in Montgomery, AL.
Andrew and I discuss some things he thinks help equip students for the challenges of college. He shares his insight on how families and congregations can invest in their young people early on to give them the foundation of a Biblical worldview so that they know how to identify truth and grow in their faith when new ideas challenge them.
The data tells us that a large percentage of our young people walk away from God and His church during their college years. That doesn't have to be the case. Now, as much as ever, this conversation is needed.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope it's helpful.
On this episode, I'm talking with my friend, Philip Jenkins. Philip is a husband, father, minister, author, and most recently, a middle school teacher. Philip and I talk about how impactful the local congregation can and should be in the spiritual development of our kids. Philip shares some of his experience as a youth minister, seeing firsthand the power of mentoring when older members of the congregation take an interest in investing in younger generations. We also spend some time discussing ways parents can cultivate creativity and develop confidence in the hearts and minds of our children.
I really enjoyed this conversation with Philip and I hope that it's helpful to you. Thanks again for dropping by.
Hey, thanks for stopping by the Carline Conversation Podcast. My name is Jason, and today I'm talking with my good friends Paddy and Melissa Flanagan. Paddy is the preaching minister for the Owens Crossroads Church of Christ, and Melissa is a graphic designer. They have two beautiful daughters.
Our topic today is a very sensitive and, unfortunately, rarely discussed topic. Paddy and Melissa are gracious enough to share with me their experience with postpartum depression and anxiety. While this topic doesn't necessarily deal with parenting our children, it's a challenge many parents face, especially new parents. While everyone's experience is unique, hearing that others have struggled through something similar can be helpful. Melissa is honest about the different emotions and pain she experienced, while Paddy gives helpful insight from the husband's perspective. I'm so grateful to both of them for their willingness to use their experience to help others who may be going through something similar.
Thank you for joining us. I hope this conversation is helpful.

In this episode, I talk with Justin & Jennifer Gerhardt. The Gerhardts spent 20 years in full-time local ministry before deciding to sell their house and move with their two teenage daughters to live in all the places they've always dreamed about. All the places. So far, they've spent time in England, Croatia, France, Ireland, South Africa, and Egypt.
In 2021, they left local ministry to pursue this adventure as global nomads. At that time, Justin began what has become the wildly popular podcast, Holy Ghost stories, where he tells Bible stories "in all their weird, haunting fantastic-ness." Jennifer is a writer, speaker, teacher, and podcaster. She's written seven books, and she and Justin share a deep passion for storytelling. Together they conduct the Storied Family Workshop.
In this episode, we talk about writing and telling your family's story in the context of God's bigger story of redemption for humanity. We also chat about choosing to live a lifestyle different from those around you and how that can impact you and your kids.
We cover a lot in this episode, so let's get to it. Thanks again for stopping by. I hope our conversation is helpful.

In this episode, I’m talking with TJ Kirk. TJ is a husband, father, minister, and educator and was recently named as the new vice president of student services at Freed-Hardeman University. TJ has been in education since 2006, serving in several roles such as principal, assistant principal, teacher, and coach. His wife Sheridan is a special education teacher in the Chester County school system, and they have two wonderful daughters.
Let’s face it, middle school is a weird time. And for most of us, that life stage was mostly about survival. Voices change, people smell weird, clothes don’t fit right, you remember it. TJ and I discuss how we, as parents, can help our kids navigate this ever-changing landscape. He also shares some ideas for how we can effectively minister to teachers and staff while positively impacting the culture of our schools.
TJ is a humble and gifted communicator, and I’m grateful for his time. I learn something new every time I hear him speak. This conversation was no different. Thanks for joining us. I hope this conversation is helpful.
You can find TJ on Facebook or reach him by email at [email protected].
