Carpooling with Heroes of the Bible: A Carpooling with Jesus Show | Bible Stories for Kids Devotionals Daily Devotional for Kids

Meet our guest host, Cathi! She's a good friend of Pastor Justin's and has been part of the Carpool Crew from the very beginning. Her brand-new kids book, Little Star, is out now, and it's a great one for bedtime.

Hey Carpool Crew! We're starting a brand-new five-episode journey with John the Baptist. Episode 1 starts before John is born: an angel beside the altar, a priest who loses his voice for doubting, and a whole town asking what this child will become. The answer comes before John does a single thing. God's hand was already on him, and it's on your kid too.

All five episodes are free for everyone.

Today's One Thing: Nobody knew yet what John would become, but God's hand was already on him, and it's on you too.

Hey Carpool Crew! Guest host Cathi takes us out to the wilderness, where God skips the emperor, the governor and the high priest and speaks to a man in camel hair eating locusts. John preaches the simplest sermon in the Bible (share your extra shirt, stop stealing, stop bullying), baptizes crowds in the Jordan, and points past himself to the One whose sandals he isn't worthy to untie. God used John exactly as he was. He can use your kid the same way.

All five episodes are free for everyone. New here? Start with Episode 1.

Today's One Thing: God used John just as he was to point people to Jesus, and He can use you too.

Hey Carpool Crew! Jesus finally walks up to the river. Guest host Cathi tells the story of the baptism, the open sky, and the day John sent his own followers after Jesus and was glad about it. When the followers left behind seem jealous, John gives them the best friend at a wedding and the most famous line he ever said: He must increase, but I must decrease. For every kid who has watched a friend drift toward somebody new.

Hey Carpool Crew! John tells a king the truth and ends up in chains. From a stone cell he sends Jesus the most honest question in the Bible: are you the one, or should we expect someone else? Guest host Cathi shows what Jesus did with that doubt (sent back evidence, then told the crowd no one greater than John had ever been born) and hands your kid two moves: name the doubt out loud, then remember what God has done. Parents, this one ends with your kid asking you for a story.

Hey Carpool Crew! The finale. Guest host Cathi tells the hard part plainly and keeps it short: Herod's foolish promise, John's death, and Jesus going away to a quiet place. Then the turn. At the river where John used to preach, the crowd says he never did a single miracle, but everything he said about Jesus was true, and many believe. The episode closes by looking back at all five Big Ideas. Your kid doesn't have to be amazing. Just keep pointing to Jesus.

All five episodes are free for everyone. New here? Start with Episode 1.

Today's One Thing: You don't have to do something amazing. Just keep pointing to Jesus.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Hey Carpool Crew! We're kicking off a brand-new five-episode journey with Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived. But episode one starts before the wisdom: a young man in a palace full of David stories, a brother who grabs for the crown, and a dying king's last words that point past fame, straight at God.

Parents, this one is for every kid living in somebody's shadow: the sibling comparison, the famous last name, the teacher who expects a repeat. David's charge in 1 Kings 2:3 reframes it all: you don't fill someone else's shoes, you walk God's path in your own.

Today's One Thing: Walk God's path, even in big shoes.

Scripture: 1 Kings 2:3 (CSB)

Hey Carpool Crew! This one is a thank you, and a quick look at how the show works.

Carpooling with Heroes of the Bible goes a little deeper. Each series is five episodes on the life of one person from the Bible: where they came from, what God asked them to do, what went wrong, what changed, and why their story still matters. So far we have met Peter, Ruth, Jonah, Samuel, Rahab, Joseph, Daniel, Gideon, and more. It is great for road trips, homeschool time, or any time your family wants to learn more about the real people in the Bible.

Episode 1 of every series is free for everyone, so you can always jump in and meet a new hero. Subscribers get all five episodes and the whole story.

And to every subscriber, thank you. Because of you, we keep growing this show, we send Carpool Crew stickers to kids around the world, and Carpooling with Jesus stays free and sponsor free for every kid who listens.

About a minute and a half.

Hey Carpool Crew! We are starting a brand-new five-episode journey through one of the most relatable heroes in the whole Bible: Gideon. In episode one, we meet him hiding in a pit, threshing wheat where nobody can see him, scared of the enemy camped all around. And that is the exact moment God calls him "valiant warrior." Today is about who Gideon was before God moved, and the truth that God sees who you can become even when you feel small and scared. A great one for any kid walking into a new school year feeling little.

Today's One Thing: God sees who you can become, even when you feel small and scared.

Hey Carpool Crew,

Most kids know Daniel because of the lions. But long before the lions' den, Daniel was a teenager who got taken from his home. Today on Carpooling with Heroes of the Bible, Pastor Justin starts a brand-new five-episode journey with Daniel by going back to the very beginning, when King Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem and marched Daniel and his three friends hundreds of miles to Babylon.

Babylon tried to erase everything about them, even giving them new names to push God out. But Daniel learned the truth that held him steady for the rest of his life: God had not stayed back in Jerusalem. God went to Babylon too. Daniel had been taken from his home, but he had not been taken from his God.

This episode is for every kid who has ever felt dropped somewhere new and scary, a new school, a new house, a back-and-forth between two homes, a new team where they knew no one. About 10 minutes, kid-friendly, with a real-life takeaway parents can talk through on the drive.

Today's One Thing: You can be dropped somewhere new and scary and still belong to God. He goes where you go.

Scripture: Daniel 1:6 (CSB)

Hey Carpool Crew!

This week we're starting a five-episode journey through the life of Joseph, one of the most surprising heroes in the Bible. In Episode 1, we go back to the beginning. Joseph is seventeen, the favorite son in a complicated family, and God gives him a dream that nobody around him is ready to hear. The reaction is fast and brutal. By the end of Genesis 37, Joseph is sold by his own brothers and headed to Egypt. The dream God gave him is still alive. The people closest to him are not.

For parents listening with your kids: this episode is a doorway into a real conversation about what to do when the people in your child's life don't celebrate what God is doing in them. We name the pain honestly and we anchor it in who God says they are.

Today's One Thing: Sometimes the people closest to you won't understand what God is doing in your life. Stay rooted in who God says you are.

Scripture: Genesis 37:5 (CSB)

The arc:

* Episode 1: When People Don't Get You (Backstory)

* Episode 2: When You're Far From Home (Slavery and Potiphar's house)

* Episode 3: Faithful in the Hard Place (False accusation and prison)

* Episode 4: When God Lifts You Up (Pharaoh and elevation)

* Episode 5: The Forgiveness That Saves a Family (Reunion and legacy)
