Carry the Three

Here’s part two to our spoooooky season series. In this episode, we talk more about astrology, tarot cards, and other haunted happenings. This week, we have a special guest! Meet Tiana, a software engineer that dabbles in crafts and tarot cards. More importantly, she’s T’s sister! Fall is here! Changing weather, falling leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween. T thought it would be a great idea to talk about superstitions as we enter Spooky season. And that’s exactly what we did….for the most part. In this episode we talk about some superstitions/customs that are in the Black community. Of course, we didn’t talk about too many different ones as we slid from topic to topic, but we definitely covered some major ones. And I promise you the crabs are related to Black customs...just not how you’re expecting. Welcome to the Chaos!

With all the time we spend on social media, we’re bound to come across some new slang that the kids are using. But what if that new “slang” is really just Black people talking and being themselves in front of the whole world? In this episode, we discuss blaccents: what they are, why someone would have one, and how we feel about it. This is just our take on it, but it is an interesting conversation. And if you’re wondering where the squash comes in, well you’re just gonna have to listen to the episode.

This is the beginning of season 2 part 2 or what we call our redemption arc. 2021 has not been the kindest to us and we’ve been busy holding onto our sanity while the world spins into pandemic pandemonium. Is it just us or does 2021 seem harder to deal with than 2020? In this episode, we talk about what we want to see in the future of Carry the Three and somehow the proper name for a large cookie type dessert. Cookie pizza? Cookie cake? The chaos in our minds and the world continues to grow. In this episode, we talk about the Stop Asian Hate Movement and how we view it. Of course, we follow our own streams of consciousness and end up talking about Olly London and the fetishization of Asian people among several other things. Guess who’s finally back! We missed the end of 2020 and the start of 2021, but you know what? We’re back and just as chaotic as ever.  In this episode, we catch you up on all the things we said we were going to do and what we actually did. Remember when we said we had a special announcement for you? Well, in this special announcement episode of Carry the Three, we are taking a mini break in light of our (short) school summer vacation and we also talk about what we are going to do for our vacation, which is sleep and watch TV. We’ll be back in September. And don’t worry, we’ll still be giving a Carry the Three Challenge, so listen to the end and try to guess our mystery word! On this podcast, we meander from topic to topic sprinkling a little chaos here and there. But a lot of the chaos gets cut for the sake of time, because no one wants to hear us ramble for 2 hours. So we wanted to share with you one instance of us carrying the three that didn't make it into an episode. This episode is an excerpt from the Social Distancing episode (go listen to it if you haven't). We went from social distancing to Kobe shucking and jiving. Along the way, we talk about the weekend we created the idea for Carry the Three and somehow we made our way back to social distancing.
