Cars Ruin Cities

Photo montage of my kid as she grows from 3'5" to 4'9". In each of 12 photos, she is sharing a pedestrianized space with a pickup truck. In almost every photo, the top of the truck's grille is as high or higher than the top of her head.

Video, taken from a bicycle handlebar, shows cars backed up on a congested, multi-lane urban road, waiting for a traffic light to turn green during Chapel Hill, NC's brief morning "rush hour." The bicycle is whizzing past them all in the sidewalk (sidewalk riding is legal in this situation, and there is no on-street bicycle facility).

There aren't bright enough clothes to make up for drivers who DGAF.

15 second clip of a blissful trip to see a puppet show at rush hour. Video shows bicyclist's view, riding up a sidewalk along two lanes of car traffic. The bike, traveling a sedate 10mph, is cruising by the cars. It is near dusk.

Bike-cam video showing a pleasant morning commute along a greenway that turns into a sidepath alongside a sea of cars. Due to fog + wildfire haze, the cars all have their lights on, giving a surreal twinkly effect.

It should not take three minutes to cross a road. Yet many road crossings in NC are designed to make pedestrians wait at least that long before getting a walk signal. This video shows one such crossing in Chapel Hill, NC.

Video from a NC ferry passenger, disembarking as a pedestrian. The video shows a column of cars exiting the boat while the pedestrian waits awkwardly on the deck. When a pickup truck won't start, blocking traffic, the pedestrian asks for and is granted permission to leave.
