Who should really own our company’s messaging? That’s the question one of the CEOs I work with asked me recently.

As a bestselling author featured on BBC TV, Times Square and having collaborated with over 60 CEOs, here’s my answer.


Messaging breaks when too many voices dilute it and when no one can explain the why behind it. Strong companies pick an owner for messaging, back it with real customer data, and defend it with confidence. At the same time, the best CEOs stay open to change when new evidence shows up. Messaging is not a committee sport, but it is a living system. Own it clearly, align cross functionally, and refine it as the market evolves. That’s how you adapt without diluting.
