  • Things We Need To Stop Doing As Parents For Our Kids
It's not a bad thing for us to love and provide for our kids, but one thing we often forget is that we aren't just raising kids, we're raising people. They will eventually become future adults and if we do everything for them, we are depriving them of the opportunity to learn valuable life lessons. So how do we raise competent adults if we’re always doing everything for our kids? With all this being said, we need to stop doing these things if we want to raise future adults.

  • Is There Something That You've Been Waiting To Do?
Last night, Rebecca attended her daughter's basketball game which brought back a lot of painful memories from when she played basketball at a young age. However, what stood out to her was during a moment in the game, a girl was wide open to make an easy lay-up (shot right next to the basket) and instead of taking the shot, she froze and passed it to another person on her team. Of course, with the way basketball works, the other team ended up retrieving the ball to score. This really prompted Rebecca to talk with her daughter afterward and remind her of a valuable lesson in life:

"You miss 100% of the shots that you don't take."

  • 3 Things To Do When The Bottom Falls Out
We're all bound to face a situation in life at some point that will completely knock us out. Whether it's an illness, a loss, an addiction, or something else, it's important to remember these 3 things whenever the bottom falls out in our lives.

    1. Fall On Your Knees

When everything breaks apart, fall on your knees and remember the ultimate source of your strength. He didn't leave you and guess what? He never will!

    2. Don't Go At It Alone

Find two or three people that can go at this journey with you and pray with you during this time. You need people that can be there at a moment's notice to support and encourage you so you can let go of it.

    3. Unpack Your Emotional Suitcase

There are going to be some positive things that we'll want to hold on to and set aside, however, there are also some things that are bad that are just holding us down and preventing us from moving forward. You need to trash those!

  • If You Want To Hear The Lord, Do This
Joel Burke, KCBI's Program Director, filled in for Jeff today and shared about what God was speaking to him about this past weekend and the lessons he learned can apply to any one of us as we look to hear God's voice in our daily walk. It may not be this physical voice that you see in the movies, but God certainly communicates to us in a variety of different methods. Sometimes you need to get away from the noise, pull out of all of the distractions, and just get quiet in order to really see how God has impacted you so far.

  • Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater!
When the Science Fair comes around, most kids build the typical paper mache volcano or decide to do something with rockets, space, etc. However, 10-year-old Ace Davis from Kentucky had other ideas as he had his sights set on proving that Tom Brady was a cheater. If you're familiar with Tom Brady's record, you know that there have been many accusations in the past with "Deflategate" in which he was accused of underinflating footballs to give himself a competitive advantage. The surprising part in all of the this is that Ace's findings were actually quite impressive!
