En nuestra sociedad, la depresión sigue siendo un tabú; hablar de ello suele tener una connotación negativa, como si fuera algo que solo afectara a gente "rara". Pero la realidad es que es una condición de salud mental común que toca a personas de todas las edades y orígenes—incluidos nosotros. Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), más de 264 millones de personas en todo el mundo padecen depresión (en América Latina, la depresión afecta aproximadamente al 5,8% de la población).

La depresión puede causar una variedad de síntomas que incluyen tristeza, pérdida de interés en las actividades, cambios en el apetito o en los patrones de sueño y dificultad para concentrarse. También puede aumentar el riesgo de suicidio. Precisamente por eso debemos hablarlo; la depresión se puede manejar con la atención adecuada.

En este episodio del podcast, abrimos nuestros corazones para hablar sobre nuestra experiencia al lidiar con esta condición, compartiendo pensamientos y algunos enfoques para tratarla. Porque sí, buscar la ayuda de un profesional de la salud mental o un grupo de apoyo, hacer ejercicio, comer mejor, reducir el consumo de alcohol, meditar y estar en la naturaleza puede marcar una diferencia significativa en el manejo de los síntomas y mejorar el bienestar general.

In our society, depression is still taboo; talking about it usually has a negative connotation, as if it were something that only affected "weird" people. But the reality is that it’s a common mental health condition that touches people of all ages and backgrounds—including us. 
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 264 million people worldwide suffer from depression (in Latin America, depression affects an estimated 5.8% of the population). 

Depression can cause a range of symptoms, including sadness, loss of interest in activities, changes in appetite or sleep patterns, and difficulty concentrating. It can also increase the risk of suicide. That’s precisely why we should talk about it; depression is treatable with the right care. 

In this episode of the podcast, we open our hearts to talk about our experience dealing with this condition, sharing our thoughts and approaches to solving it. Because, yes, seeking help from a mental health professional or a support group, exercising, eating better, cutting down on alcohol, meditating, and being in nature, can make a significant difference in managing symptoms and improving overall well-being.
